Artwork of Billie Brinkley, NSA

After teaching art in Goose Creek Conolidated School District in Baytown, Texas for 32 years, retirement in 2003 gave Billie Brinkley the freedom to begin her own art legacy and study under well known local and state artists.  She received her BFA from Sam Houston State University and her MA in Humanities with emphasis on Visual Arts from the University of Houston Clear Lake.

Billie enjoys photo realism, the “anything goes” technique of collage and the challenges of paper mache sculpture.  Billie works instinctually-organically.  Teaching students to think creatively and problem solve was one of her great challenges and joys of teaching.

“To create, embellish, make beautiful is innate in every culture.”

“My art is about not knowing where I am going, about doing something different and experimental. I only remember being or wanting to be an artist”.

Billie has won many awards for her art.  Her art is also available in giclee prints.

Billie is a member of the Art League of Baytown, National Society of Artists and the Galveston Art League.  She is an art judge for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo student art. She is an active volunteer in Baytown as a MOPS Mentor (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) and client advocate for the Pregnancy Resource Center East.  She is also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and an active member of Second Baytown.
