Our Spring Member LSAG Show is held in April and is a Lone Star Art Guild
qualifier. Members who win awards qualify to show their work at the Lone Star
Art Guild (LSAG) Convention which is held in July or August giving members the
opportunity to compete on a regional level. LSAG consists of 18 independent art
leagues located within a 200-mile radius of Houston Texas.
National Show, NSA also has a National Show in October with entries submitted
online.  Along with these shows, NSA offers artists monthly meetings with demos
and periodic workshops.

LSAG categories
A. Oil/Acrylic Painting – oil paintings and acrylic paintings painted like an
oil painting
B. Watercolor/acrylic Painting – watercolor and acrylic paintings applied
with water giving the appearance of a watercolor painting
C. Pastels – including pastels applied over a watercolor under painting
D. Drawing – including Sumi-e and oriental brush painting
E. Mixed Media – artwork displaying two or more types of media, including
but not limited to collage, encaustic painting and other mixed media
F. Photography – digital or film photography minimally manipulated or
altered using technology
G. Digital Art – all forms of digital art including photography that has been
greatly manipulated or altered using technology
H. Abstract/Experimental/Non-Objective Art – on any media
I. Sculpture – 3D forms in various media, including sculptures in relief
J. Studio Fine Crafts – original fine crafts created in a studio environment
including glass blowing, stained glass, printmaking, porcelain, woodwork,
jewelry, mosaic, weaving, fiber art, metal work, and other finely crafted
items.

LSAG Divisions (once in a divisions, you may not move down!)
I. Professional
II. Semi-Professional
III. Non-Professional
IV. Adult Student- Adult who has created art work for less than 3 years
either through self-study or under the direction of an art teacher. The
teacher may give any and all verbal assistance needed; however the
teacher MAY NOT PHYSICALLY work on the artwork to be entered in
a show. After two years of College art (4 art courses) or 3(three years)
as a LSAG Adult student, any LSAG member shall enter the Non-
Professional Divisions.
V. School student – Any school student, Elementary, Middle, or High
School.

SCHEDULE

What: LSAG – NSA Qualifier Show

IN TAKE: Saturday, April 27 (10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)

Bring table easels or floor easels to display your entries. Tables (flat) will be available.

Entry Fees: NSA League member – $15 first entry, $5 each #2, #3, #4 etc.

League Student Member – one entry $5

Non-NSA league member – $25 first entry, $10 for each additional entry

LATE FEE:- $25; applies for any entry after 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Awards Presentation: 3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27

Open to Public: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. April 27

Art pickup: 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. April 27

Awards: Best of Show Adult $100; Student $50; Ribbons

Lone Star Art Guild

Artist Divisions (These are separated by primary skill levels.)

I. PROFESSIONAL – Artist’s choice

II. SEMI-PROFESSIONAL – Artist’s choice to move up

III. NON-PROFESSIONAL – Artist’s choice to move up

IV. ADULT STUDENT – one who has painted, sculpted, etc., for less than three years (self-study) or

show. After two (2) years of College Art (4 art courses) or three (3) years as an Adult Student,

any LSAG member will automatically be placed in the Non-Professional Division.

V. SCHOOL STUDENT – V-ES – Any Elementary School student, grades 1 – 5; V-MS – Any

Middle School student, grades 6 – 8; V-HS – Any High School student grades 9 -12Æ

LSAG Art Categories

There will be ten (10) Art Categories within each Competition Level, which are generally separated by art types

and medium used. Local leagues may exclude categories that do not receive art entries for the judging process.

The following guidelines were written to assist artists in choosing an Art Category for artwork*:

Step by Step Instructions on How to Enter Your Art in the Lone Star Art Guild (LSAG) – NSA member show

  1. You MUST be a paid NSA or other LSAG member art guild to participate.
  2. To check if your dues are up to date, please contact Phillis Unbehagen nsartists24@gmail.com
  3. Collect the following items and have them available and handy BEFORE you attempt to login and submit your artwork:
    • User name and password for Lone Star Art Guild site
    • Artwork that you wish to submit – title(s), length, width, depth, medium, price and year created
    • READ the “Rules For Entering An LSAG Show” find it here: http://lsagtx.weebly.com/enter.html
    • DECIDE on the category for your artwork. You may be submitting art in several categories.
    • DECIDE on your artist division. Please note your artist division can only go “up”. Once you choose a division and latter have second thoughts – you can NOT downgrade your category.
    • Make notes of all the REQUIRED above information before you login and begin

Are you READY?

  1. Go to the login page: Lone Star Art Guild http://lsag.wspub.com/Default.aspx
  2. Type in your email and password
  3. On the left hand column, click on “Artist Information”
  4. Complete the form accurately, reinsert your email and password, click on “save profile”
  5. A pop up “Your profile has been updated” will appear
  6. Click on “View Artwork” at the top of the same page
  7. Click on “Add new art”
  8. Complete the form: Title; category; medium; price; year created; width; height; and depth.
  9. Click on “Save Artwork”; repeat this exercise until you have submitted all the art you wish to submit.
  10. Read the drop down attestation, if you can agree with it – click “okay”
  11. Fill in the “Add this artwork to an upcoming show”
  12. A roster of open LSAG member shows will appear
  13. Click on the NSA Member and LSAG show
  14. Click on “Add”
  15. The “Add this artwork to an upcoming show” will present itself again. IF you want to submit additional art OR to submit the art that you have recorded into other LSAG art guild member shows. This is where you would do it.
  16. At the top of the “Add this artwork to an upcoming show” there is a button to “View Artwork”. Click it to view and confirm the pieces that you have selected to submit are successfully recorded.
  17. It is important that what you have added is ACCURATE. If you are a ribbon winner and if you wish to go forward to the LSAG regional online show, the information that you have input will “follow” your submission(s) thru the entire process.
  18. Please VERIFY that your inputted data was saved. Log out, after a few minutes log back in and check that it is there. Occasionally in the past, some members have found that art they thought had been inputted was not. PRINT a copy of your data.
